Are you ready for a dance party?  I know the Back Room does not have a whole lotta space for dancing, but those of you who are regular Back Roomers, know that never stopped me! This week Easy Street Bayou will be playing both Cajun and Zydeco music. Cajun music started with ballads and turned to front porch dance music for small get-togethers. Cajun dance variations include a one step jig and a two-step jitterbug, which takes a bit of space. However Zydeco is more compact and it would be absolutely possible to stand at your table and express yourself to the music. There is a great demonstration below on just how easy it is. Of course you can always sway in your seat and tap your feet under the table. Either way we are going to have a lot of fun.

I interviewed Lisa Brande about the origins of the music she and Mark Trichka will be playing this Saturday June 18th. The interview is in two parts as the Internet connection was not wonderful.

    Linda Carmichael

Born under the shadows of the great shipyards of Clydeside in Glasgow, into a working class family (her papa was a riveter on the Queen Mary) she became an actress in her twenties, working in TV, radio, film and theater. She is well travelled and in her thirties, while juggling motherhood with her acting career she moved, as a single parent to the U.S. where she met and married her husband David, over twenty years ago. Together with David's multi talented son, Noah they created The Mill trio of businesses.

Linda is dedicated to keeping live performance going, particularly the time honored traditions in music before the era where radio stations only play artists guaranteed to make millions of sales.

Community is very important to Linda and she enjoys the fact that a very strong and vital community has grown from the idea that is, THE BACK ROOM.
